EnviroKlenz - How They are Different

Traditional Carbon Air Filters
Carbon Filter air purifiers have been in the marketplace for a long time. How do air purifiers with activated carbon clean the air? Carbon Filters rely on adsorption (not absorption) meaning the air particles or particulate matter are trapped in the porous surface area instead of being diffused in the material. Activated carbon is very porous and has a large surface area that makes it ideal for adsorbing gases and odors. Moreover, there are many carbon blends where the carbon is impregnated with elements like silver, iodine, or zeolite which enhances the effectiveness.
Many of the air purifiers in our store use carbon, which we believe is quite effective. The main reason is their use of a carbon canister design which means a lot of surface area that is also several inches thick. But, one of the downsides is that carbon is better adsorbing organic compounds (VOCs) and not so great with inorganic compounds. Moreover, in time Carbon Filters become saturated and can no longer trap pollutants. Additionally, chemicals that adsorb "better" can displace others resulting in chemicals being released back into the environment known as "outgassing". This is usually noticeable because a saturated Carbon Filter will produce a strong odor indicating that it's time for filter replacement.
The Non-Carbon EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Air Cartridge
The polluted air from the environment enters the EnviroKlenz Mobile Air System through 3 side vents and first passes through the non-carbon Air Cartridge which features:

Similar to Carbon Filters, the EnviroKlenz Air Cartridge is adsorptive. Unlike carbon, however, the EnviroKlenz uses a proprietary mineral blend of metal oxides which allows for a variety of chemical pathway interactions that breakdown the various toxic and noxious compounds. This neutralization effect can result in EnviroKlenz air purifiers completely eliminating harmful pollutants like hydrogen sulfide while some carbon filtration air purifiers may not. Moreover, the EnvironKlenz Air Cartridge actively breaks down the adsorbed gases and although it can reach saturation, it does not "outgas" as a result. Hence, part of the EnviroKlenz air purifier product message is that their units do not release any chemicals back into the environment and work great for people with chemical sensitivities. However, The Air Cartridge must be replaced every 6 months. Although it may not "outgas", it can become ineffective if the maintenance protocol is not followed.

EnviroKlenz Mobile UV Model
Basically, this air purifier with UV Light is the same as the EnviroKlenz Mobile Air System with optional UV Lights installed. While many air purifiers with UV only offer a single lamp, the EnviroKlenz Mobile Air System mechanical design facilitates a dual light source configuration with more direct light hitting the HEPA Filter. In this way, the UVC dosage necessary for bacterial destruction is effective because the trapped pathogens are continuously exposed to the UVC radiation on the collection side of the HEPA Filter regardless of how quickly air is passing through the unit.
EnviroKlenz Air Purifier Easy Maintenance
Yes, installation is very simple. There are only a couple of thumb screws used to remove the back panel and all components (Air Cartridge, HEPA Filter, UV Lamps) are exposed and can be swapped out in seconds.
